Marathon - Important information

sent by Born Survivor Events on 12/04/2024 at 10:19
Marathon - Endurance Course 26.2 miles.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ CAREFULLY

Hello Survivors....Your mission is approaching fast and we hope your Marathon prep is going well... A truly great and proud day awaits you!

Registration -
On registration you will be offered the option to drop your administration kit at the Marathon aid station. The aid station will have tables that you may place your bag UNDER. The tables are for hydration/snacks etc.

You will be issued with your marathon bib, please write your race number and surname in markerpen in the box on provided.

Admin Area - You are welcome to lay your snacks/fluid out on the table in large see through sealable bags. Please write your Race Number/Name on the bag with the marker pen provided.

Our fantastic sponsor Wata will provide cans of Wata (Artisan Spring water) at the aid station, however please come prepared with any extra energy sources that you will require.

Please keep the area tidy, this will ensure you can find you kit easily on your return to the pitstop.

Kit - We recommend that you bring multiple pairs of spare socks, gloves, blister kit, and back up clothing just incase of chaffing etc. Vasaline or other lubricants may be a good idea.

Course - The course is approximately 4 X 10.5km long and feature an extra run section of approximately 0.5 of a mile long. There are no obstacles within this extra section. Please note that this distance is not 100% accurate. It is possible that after crossing the finish line you will have run slightly less or more. We have worked towards a margin of error of approximately 1 mile.

Obstacles - Each lap will feature 32 obstacles consisting of manmade and natural barriers.

Terrain - Terrain is uneven and challenging in parts - Please take extra care with your footing especially as you begin to become tired!

Cut off Time - You will leave in the first wave along with the Elite Squadron. Please bear in mind that you will have 7 hours to complete the course.
The cut off to begin the last lap will be 15.00HRS

Bypass Lanes - There will be a Marathon bypass lane at:
  • Commando Crossing (Monkey bars)
  • Drop Zone Alpha Slide - There is also an option to use the Para Plunge jump rather than the slide at this obstacle. Why not mix it up! :)
Simply make your way to the front, marshals and participants will be made aware of your presence on the course.
All participants will be asked to be respectful to Marathon participants wearing Yellow vests and to try to allow you to pass, however sometimes patients may need to be exercised in busy areas of the course. Please keep in mind that this is an adventure, there are not prizes for coming first....Finishing happy and in one piece is the reward!

Hydration - Please be aware that their are 3 water stations on this course including the marathon aid station. Take your time here and ensure that you take onboard the fluids that you require to make it to the next water stop in good order!

Be careful not to excessively over hydrate also as this can be dangerous!

Spectators will be able to see you pass at multiple points on this course and this may be another option for a family member or friend to support you with snacks and drinks.
Please be aware throughout the course that if you are drinking/eating, that your hands and mouth have been through natural water courses....Expect bacteria to be present and therefore exercise good hygeine throughout your adventure!

Please Note - Spectators are not allowed onto the course or in unauthorised areas under any circumstances. Any person found in breach of this will be asked to leave the event.

SWAG - You will receive a special edition Marathon Endurance Course Dogtag medal and T'shirt and Marathon Endurance Course bib to keep...Perfect for running the streets in!

1st Aid - We have first aiders on the course and in the event village, if you require assistance please do not hesitate to visit the first aid tent.

Multi Laps And Accessing your next lap - After leaving the nets on the finish wall 'The Blitz' you will immediately turn right and go back on yourself, do not cross the finish line 'AMMO BOXES' until your last lap. This filter lane will take you to the Marathon aid station and from here you will be able to access the start line again.

Finish Line - You will not cross the finish line -(AMMO BOXES) until your last lap.

Photography - We would love to get a photo of all the Marathon participants before you set off on your mission, we will attempt to do this in the start cage. Ensure that you stop for your finisher photos as you cross the finish line.

Finally - Good luck to you all and thank you for being part of our 10th anniversary and marking it with 26.2 miles and 128 obstacles! Start thinking about your tapering, this is a vitally important part of your prep and your body will thank you on the day for not Over Doing the next 2 weeks!

Take care soldiers and I'll see you on the Battlefield!

All the best
