Ashton Soapbox Race (the second coming)

Come and race the second edition of the incredible New Year's Day Ashton Soap Box Race.

Bring your friends and family and get your first, fast and furious adrenaline fix of 2020. This was a storming success last year; It promises to be even better this year...don't miss out.

The race starts at 10.00 on 1st January 2020. All spectators and competitors are welcome.

If you're competing, you'll need to sign in and be in the pits at the top of the run by 9.00 ready for scrutineering.

The course will be along Elmley Road. The start line will be located between the turnings for Hillside and Cotton’s Lane. The finish line will be at the Star Inn.

Entry fees are £25 per kart.

Karts with a rider that is under 16 on 1st January 2020 are £10 per kart.

For all of your pushers, you'll have to pay £10 per head (£5 for under 16s). We'll collect the money for your pushers on the day and you can have up to four people on your team (rider plus 3 pushers).

There will be two race categories; under 16s and over 16s. This is based on the age of the kart rider on 1st January 2020.

There will also be a best fancy-dress competition and a best built kart award.

Other awards may be provided, depending on entries.

There will be a push zone at the start of the course (think winter Olympics bobsleigh style) - a penalty of 10 seconds is incurred if those assisting the start do not adhere to this zone.

The course is quite steep; competitors can expect to reach 20 mph.

There will be bacon sandwiches, cake, tea, coffee and alka seltzer available...a perfect way to manage the excesses of the night before.
