Dorney Lake Triathlon

C-19 PLAN:

Following updated guidance from the UK Government and in turn the governing bodies that license our events, UK Athletics and British Triathlon, we’re confident that this event can go ahead in a modified format. We’re carefully adapting our event plans – from getting there to going home. We’re thinking through every detail and the safest way to deliver our events under the new guidance.

The website has been updated on 25th July with detailed competitor notes expected on 31st July. All information is provisional and subject to change.

Description: Set at the spectacular, flat and smooth-surfaced Dorney Lake, near Windsor, the course takes you onto the lake and around the perimeter of the water. With fuel and water stations and chip-timed results we try and make it as easy as possible to get your pacing right, so that you can focus on your race and get the best possible time.

Super-fast course - perfect for beginners or intermediates. Anyone can enter this event.

· Triathlon: Super Sprint, Sprint & Olympic

· Duathlon: Super Sprint, Sprint & Olympic

· Aquabike: Super Sprint, Sprint & Olympic

· Lake Swim: 750m, 1.5k & 3k

Event Location: Dorney Lake, Eton College Rowing Centre, off Court Lane, Dorney, Windsor, Berkshire. SL4 6FJ. (Please note that this postcode has recently been updated from SL4 6QP but may not have propogated to any satnav software you may be using. Please navigate to Dorney Lake if unsure).

Car Parking: On arrival to the site follow signs to the event car park.

Registration: All multi-discipline event participants on the Sunday will be sent their bib number and bike stickers prior to the event. Their timing chip and swim hat will be left at their allocated space within the transition area. Bike racking positions within transition will all be numbered and at 2 metre intervals. An enquiries desk will be set up at the front of the boat bay to allow for anyone whose number has not arrived.

Bag Drop: There will be no bag drop or changing facilities at the event in order to minimise the amount of contact between staff and participants and to restrict all activities to the outdoor areas. We advise competitors to come ready to participate and leave valuables in your car.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants overall and the top runner in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) for both males and females. Where possible, we will endeavour to present individual race prizes as soon as validated on the day.

Bespoke medals for all finishers and a selection of refreshments

Timings: Provisional schedule - each event will have a rolling wave start with participants starting individually at 15 second intervals. This allows for 4 people per minute to start; 60 people per 15 minute period. Longer distances will start earlier in the day with the shorter distances starting later. This will ensure that there is sufficient time between each participant starting to allow for social distancing. This should also ensure there is a steady number of people coming through the finish line, avoiding groups congregating. (See website)

Start periods will be allocated based on participant bib number e.g. numbers 1-60 starting at 15 second intervals between 08:00-08:15.
