3 pistes 2021 Event Details - SATURDAY 4th September

sent by KOM Events on 15/07/2021 at 11:55
Firstly thanks to everyone who responded to our survey. The vast majority have opted to ride on the SATURDAY and so we WILL be changing the date. I know this is inconvenient and disappointing and I really hate that we are having to do this but please understand that the Covid situation has left us with very little choice - we simply cannot afford to run this event stand-alone with so few participants this year. We have been trying to get funding to help avoid this but the bureaucracy is such that it hasn't happened.

As such if you find you cannot attend on Saturday 4th September please contact me ([email protected]) ASAP and before 21st August at the latest, for a refund or deferral.

For everyone who still wishes to ride I will be emailing further details next week.

3 Pistes 2021

sent by KOM Events on 29/06/2021 at 12:33

Thank you for entering 3 Pistes Cycle Sportive 2021.

We would like your feedback please.

In previous years 3 Pistes has been held at the same time as Day 2 of Tour of the Highlands.

Earlier in the year, due to the covid capacity restrictions limiting us to 200 persons including staff, we decided to have 3 Pistes riders tackle the Pitlochry to Cairngorm route the day after the Tour of the Highlands riders. TotH riders Saturday & 3 Pistes riders Sunday.

British Cycling and Scottish Government guidance and regulations currently suggest that we can now have a maximum of 500 riders in groups of no more than 50 (although we only allow maximum rider groups of 30) .

It is our intention to once again merge the TOTH and 3 Pistes riders to the same day, Saturday 4th September as we simply cannot afford not.

But we need to know if that works for you the riders. So PLEASE FILL OUT THIS VERY SIMPLE FORM

We appreciate that most of you will have organised accommodation etc. and a potential change of date is a faff. Merging the two rides back into their traditional format means we do not need double the staff, double the infrastructure and more than treble the cost… on the upside it means you the riders have twice as many wheels to draft.

Many thanks

Hannah & Alan

Following the First Minister's announcement on Tuesday we have decided to reschedule the Tour of the Highlands for later in the year. On the face of it May was looking promising, especially if your middle name is Boris. However, as the intention is to move back into a tiered system no earlier than the end of April the chances of one or more of our council areas being in level 3 restrictions or above is still pretty high (we guess...). The 3 Pistes takes in multiple regions and we need them all to be in level 2 or lower to be allowed to run the event...

So with that in mind we have chosen Sunday 5th September. We are really sorry for the obvious inconvenience of another change of date and hope you understand we are really doing our best to make this happen despite the virus's best efforts to spoil our plans.  If the new date does not suit please do just let me know if you would like to defer until 2022 or take a refund.

On the plus side there'll be more warm sunny days to train in so you will all be faster than ever :)

2021 DATES!!!!

sent by KOM Events on 18/12/2020 at 15:36

We are DELIGHTED to confirm dates for the following events:

Tour of the Highlands (SOLD OUT!!!) will go ahead as usual over the May bank holiday, 29th – 31st May 2020. Due to restrictions on numbers placed on us by Sport Scotland we are currently unable to take any more entries for this event. We hope very much this may change nearer the time but for now we have to work within the existing restrictions.

3 Pistes Sportive will this year be held on SATURDAY 29th May. Please note this is a slight change from the usual Sunday as we cannot have our 3 Pistes riders on the same leg as the Tour of the Highlands riders. Limited additional entries available HERE. Please note coach transfers are temporarily unavailable to book whilst we wait for our suppliers to confirm costs.

The King of the Mountains Weekend will be held on Friday 24th – Sunday 26th September. We have decided to move this event to a weekend later in the season in the hope that there is a better likelihood of having fewer restrictions in place. If the new date is not suitable for anyone with a rollover entry please contact me for a transfer, deferral, or refund. We have limited availability for further entries so if you fancy joining us for a hill-climb or sportive or two snap them up HERE

Rockman Inch by Inch will be held on Sunday 29th August. We may have a few limited spaces available for this one. Watch this space…!

We are in the process of updating our protocols and risk assessments to make all our events ‘Covid-secure’. More details to follow.  This will mean some aspects will feel a little different this year. For example we are limited to a maximum of 200 entrants and staff at each event meaning we CANNOT take any last minute or on-the-day entries, so if you know anyone who is thinking of just turning up and hoping for a slot please let them know and encourage them to enter online before all our events sell out… We would also like to assure everybody that should we need to cancel or postpone any event due to Covid we will offer you the choice to defer, transfer or refund. If any participant misses an event due to testing positive, being required to isolate or prevented from attending due to Government travel restrictions we will also offer deferral, transfer or refund. We reserve the right to require proof of isolation requirement.

Thankyou everybody for your patience and understanding throughout this very difficult year. Whilst 2021 will still be a long way from normal, the light is at the end of the tunnel. We are really looking forward to seeing you all out on the roads, trails and lochs again!

Watch this space for LochloMan, St Andrews and ArranMan Triathlons…

Covid19 and KOM Events

Dear athletes,

After careful deliberation we have taken the decision NOT to attempt to run any of our events at all this year.

We gave ourselves until the end of April to watch how things progressed nationally and internationally before announcing rescheduled dates for King Of The Mountains, Tour of the Highlands and SwimRun... but let’s be brutal… even if restrictions are lifted by Autumn none of us will have done sufficient training to make any rescheduled endurance events enjoyable later this year.

Hopefully restrictions will be eased over the next few months but as we are unlikely to return to anywhere near normal anytime soon I feel it would be foolish to attempt to organise mass participation events until we have a much clearer idea what life will be like. Whilst we would love to help the struggling tourism industry we do not want to put anyone at unnecessary risk, nor do we want to put a strain on our infrastructure.

So what does that mean for your 2020 entries?

We would love to be able to give all of you a full refund, but as a small operation with many ongoing annual expenses incurred for our events we are not in the financial situation to do that. What we could offer you as a partial refund, whilst still being able to continue organising unique and bespoke events for you in future years, is insulting. So we are asking that you accept the opportunity to defer your entries to any of our events in either 2021 or 2022. We want to make our return in 2021 to be as big as possible, so we will also be offering each of you a 50% Bring A Pair of Pals discount for 2021 events when they go live. The discount code will be unique to you and be suitable for two entrants.

Once we have sorted out all the dates for 2021 we will automatically defer all entries. It will take time to confirm new dates (hopefully exactly same weekends as this year) because staff at the various event venues are currently furloughed.

If you need to reply to this email please be aware that it will probably take several weeks to be answered as neither of us have any childcare right now.

Stay safe, but enjoy your solo rides.

Hannah & Alan
