Divis 10k and 1 mile Fun Run

10k route
The 10k is a tough, steep run, especially for the first two miles, so be prepared! This also goes over some rocks so be careful of footing. It’s all worth it though for the spectacular views at the summit just before the opportunity to freewheel all the way downhill again.
The route then takes runners over the boardwalk and covers some more gravel path before leading towards the summit of Black Mountain. From here you can experience exhilarating views across the city and beyond. Continue to follow the gravel path as it winds its way along the ridge crossing a couple of stiles and the Collin River along the way. After that, it’s straight back slightly past the visitor’s centre where you will see the finish line and can collect your well-deserved medal.
The route will be fully marked out at every Kilometre. There will also be marshals along the way to guide you.
There will be water at the finish line but not along the route. So feel free to take a bottle with you if you think you will need it.
Please take any empties back with you.
Be aware of cows enroute do not go near them or startle them.

1 mile fun run route
The 1 mile route will be pretty flat and on gravel path.
It will start after the main event at the same point - just at the entrance to the mountain walk. It will head out past the coffee shop and turn back at the metal gates.

Clothing
Despite this event being held in the height of the summer, we have had a few years of bad weather. This has not taken away from a great day out. Please prepare for every eventuality and bring waterproof clothing just in case.
Trail shoes would be ideal but not a necessity.

Please check the route out beforehand as it can be a little bit tricky to find if you have never been here before.
There will be some car parking available at the barn, additional cars will need to park on the road, please car share where possible.

Thanks so much to all our fantastic runners who joined us for yesterday's event.

The weather was kind to us and 90 hearty runners take to the start line for the Divis 10k and 1 mile fun run. It was great to see our usual regulars again and also welcome new runners to the Leg-It Events.

Starting with the fun run, Sean O’Neil took 1st place just ahead of his brother Ryan who took the 2nd place junior award. Both brothers regularly feature on the Leg-It junior podium and we love seeing them turn out for our events. New talent on the podium was Joe Eager who pushed hard to earn his 3rd place award.
For the girls Maya Reeves scooped a well deserved 1st place ahead of Sinead O’Hare who is often part of our marshal team with her mum.
Emma Trimmings came home in 3rd place. Well done everyone, super running!
We hope to see all our wee fun runners at our next event which is on 13th October with a Halloween theme 👻 🎃

For the 10k - Phillip Goss of North Belfast Harriers came home in 1st place for the second consecutive year in 39.12.
Shane McCusker came in 2nd in 43.25.
Another regular in our podiums - Nial O’Gorman finished 3rd in a time of 43.38.
Claire Ingram of Ballydrain Harriers Took 1st place for the ladies in 48.41.
Wendy Fleming of Dromore AC finished 2nd in a time of 52.08. 3rd place for the ladies was Katherine Harkness of Dub Runners of Belfast who finished in 53.38.

Photos of results attached and have now been sent to Athletics Northern Ireland where they will be available to download.

Visit the albums section of our main Facebook page -@legiteventsni for lots of photos from yesterday. Feel free to tag and share.

We hope everyone enjoyed the event, if so then please leave us a wee review by clicking here:

Huge thanks to our team of marshals, it might sound cheesy but without them, these events are not possible.
Thanks everyone, details of the next Event are here:

Until next time, ‘If you don’t like it.. Leg-it’ 😉
