What a great day for Cake Race - See all photos on our Facebook Page. Date for your diary: Our next Cake Race will be on 4th May 2019.

It's a Piece of Cake 10Km is pleased to be back for its 4th year. Every year our race gets a little larger and a lot better. We have what we think are the best and most enthusiastic volunteers to loudly cheer you around a chip timed, undulating, 3 lap, 10Km course in one of Manchester's prettiest parks. The signature of our course is Angel Hill - it's steep, but thankfully short, and it's that hill that brings so many people back to our race year on year.

CASH PRIZES & CHIP TIMED - Finisher T-Shirt - Race start: 10:30 | Attend from: 09:30 | Race numbers issued on the day

Each year we encourage participants or clubs to bake a cake for sale afterwards to raise money for charity (no obligation to bake or buy). For the 4th year running our charity will be The George House Trust.

FACILITIES: Refreshments | Bag drop | Toilets | Parking | Water station | Men & Women category prizes | Cake!

Proudly hosted by Manchester Frontrunners on the occasion of their 13th birthday

Join us on 5th May 2018 at Boggart Hole Clough for a great run, in a fun atmosphere and lots of lovely home baked cake.

sent by Manchester Frontrunners on 02/05/2018 at 22:18
Dear Runners,

Thanks very much for entering the 2018 edition of it’s a piece of cake 10Km. This email intends to provide you with all the necessary information for race day.

The race will be held on Saturday 5th May and will start at 10:30am. Race HQ and the start and finish will be situated at the cafe at the bottom of the main driveway. Please check the location of the cafe (race HQ) at www.cakerace.co.uk

Most importantly: CAKE!

We have a cake sale at the end of the race. All proceeds go to support the vital work of The George House Trust. Please bring a little change with you and indulge in some delicious home baked cake at the end. There are also awards for the best cakes, so if you’re a keen baker as well as a runner, why not donate a cake too?  What’s not to love?

Transport:

Boggart Hole Clough can be accessed by a number of busses. Details can be obtained from www.tfgm.com. The most convenient stop is on Charlestown Road.

If you arrive by car, limited parking available at the Charlestown Road entrance car park. If the car park fills up you may park on the adjacent roads.  On street parking may be found at the following postcodes, all of which are for residential areas adjacent to the park: M9 7AL, M9 7DG, M9 4EU and M40 9PN. Please ensure you observe local bylaws and park with consideration for local residents.

Important! No vehicles may be parked on the main drive leading down to the Cafe/Race HQ; it is reserved for Emergency access only.

Race Numbers:

Race numbers will be available to collect at Race HQ from approximately 9:00. We have plenty of safety pins, but please arrive early to allow time to collect your number.

Toilets:

The main toilets for the race are situated at the athletics track, which you will pass when entering the park from Charlestown Road on your way to Race HQ.  Our marshals will be there to direct you, so please make use of this facility when you arrive.  Additional toilets available in the cafe but are likely to get very busy.  All runners love a few toilet trips before the start so you may wish to make a trip before you take the walk down to race HQ and remember, it’s only a short walk back. You could also incorporate a toilet trip into your warm up.

Bag Store:

A free, secure bag store for runners will be available from approximately 9am in front of the main cafe building.

Main warm up:

The main warm up will be at approximately 10:15 so please ensure you have your race number, have dropped your bags off and have been to the loo (again) by this time.

Race Start:

Race start is at 10:30am.

Clothing and weather:

The weather forecast for the weekend is for dry mild conditions (no hail this year); however, Manchester is Manchester so please bring additional layers and a waterproof top layer as a precaution. The entire race is held on concrete paths therefore, standard running trainers will suffice.

Refreshments:

The Cafe will be open for the sale of hot and cold beverages.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday.

Yours

Race Director
