Triathlon Training Centre Aquathlon - Race 2

The Triathlon Training Centre are once again putting on a series of 5 Aquathlons, this time in the picturesque county of Berkshire at beautiful Bray Lake.

Aquathlons are a swim and run multi-sport event, with each competitor completing a 750m open water swim followed directly by a 5km run. Under the guidance of our race director, 3x Aquathlon World Champion Richard Stannard, we have created a great course suitable for both novice and experience athletes alike. Our goal is to create an inclusive race series for all - if you are new to multi-sport or aquathlon racing, join us for our free Intro To Aquathlon presentation in early May (date TBC) or one of our coaching sessions and let us help you get active!

These swim and run events, held on various Saturday mornings across the season, are an excellent opportunity to monitor your progression throughout the year with each event being held on the identical course allowing for comparisons of times across the series. The Aquathlon Race Series is made up of 5 races - each race has great prizes plus enter multiple races in the series and your best results from your top 3 races go towards the grand final podium and prize giving!

The aquathlon is open to juniors provided they are 15 or older as at 31 December 2018.

On the day registration will take place between 06.30am and 07.40am closing promptly. Race briefing will follow at 07.45am in the transition area. The race will start in the water at approx. 8am.

  • Non-wetsuit swimmers are eligible to participate in the event provided they have experience swimming the event distance without a wetsuit at this time of the year and complete the non-wetsuit section of the entry form
  • Wetsuit rental is available for the evening event for those who require one. If you would like to hire a wetsuit, please email Jas on [email protected].

TTC Aquathlon - tomorrow, Saturday 23 June - Final Information

sent by The Triathlon Training Centre on 22/06/2018 at 13:47
We hope you are all looking forward to our next aquathlon race on tomorrow morning, Saturday 23 June at 8am at Bray Lake. Please see final instructions set out below.

Registration
  • REGISTRATION OPENS at 6:30am and closes promptly at 7:40am and will be in the blue marquee next to the car parking area just before you reach the clubhouse (i.e if you reach the clubhouse you will have gone too far)
  • PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU HAVE NOT SWUM AT BRAY LAKE THIS YEAR - Bray Lake will need you to complete an online form (health and indemnity for Bray Lake) so you can join us for this race and general swim sessions/events in the future. Please use THIS LINK - https://customerweb.microshadeapplications.co.uk/BrayLake and select new user and then select Friend of Bray Lake. You can then follow the steps to complete this form.
  • Once registered for your race, you will be permitted to have a SWIM WARM UP from 7am to 7:40am, if you wish in the area in front of registration - but you must have registered for the race first.
  • The RACE BRIEFING is compulsory and will be held at 7:45am AT THE REGISTRATION AREA which is next to transition, with the RACE STARTING at 8am
  • Please bring a RACE BELT (if you have one) or we will provide you with safety pins to attached your RACE NUMBER
The Swim - 750m
  • The SWIM is a 2 lap, clockwise course with an in-water start
  • The water temperature is on/around 19 degrees at present and so wetsuits are optional although highly recommended (tip from head coach Richard Stannard - it is much faster to swim in a wetsuit even with the added time in transition)
  • If you need to HIRE A WETSUIT for the event, please contact Jas before 5pm today, Friday 22 June on [email protected] and confirm your height and weight. There is an additional £10 charge for wetsuit hire
Transition Area
  • TRANSITION will be open from 7am and will be next to registration - if you are new to triathlon and would like some assistance in setting up your transition, please ask at registration
Run - 5km
  • The RUN is a 2 lap, multi-surface cross country style course which takes you around the lake. Off-road shoes would be beneficial but not essential.
General
  • GENERAL SWIMMING is on as usual during all of our races, with the races being held in a different part of the lake
  • If you have any friends who are interested in racing, but who haven't yet registered, ONLINE REGISTRATIONS CLOSE today, Friday 22 June at 5pm.
  • Venue is Bray Lake Watersports, Monkey Island Lane, Windsor Road, Maidenhead, SL6 2EB.     PLEASE NOTE IF USING SATNAV - Great though these devices are, if you are coming from the Maidenhead direction to Bray Lake do not follow signs to Bray Village or use sat nav directions, instead carry on to or stay on A308 towards Windsor and then taking the turning on the left into Monkey Island Lane. Follow the road round to the Club House. For more information, head to http://www.braylake.com/how-to-find-us.html
  • Any questions, please email Jas on [email protected]
We look forward to welcoming you to Bray Lake!
