Reservoir Dogs

Punk Panther Races started in 2017. They are a series of 6 Ultra Marathons, each race has trophies for First Male, Female and Veteran Male and Female over 50. Points given each race will count towards an annual trophy for men and women.

Punk Panther Races all start in Otley, West Yorkshire and finish in Pool-in-Wharfedale, West Yorkshire, with free return transport to the event car park. They are a minimum of 50K and are run over a variety of challenging courses in West and North Yorkshire visiting stunning scenery including Ilkley Moor, The Chevin and the many reservoirs and beauty spots the area has to offer.

RESERVOIR DOGS

Distance: 43/57 km (27/35 miles)

Climb: 750/950 metres (2500/3100ft)

Car Park: Bridge End Auction Site, Otley, LS21 2AA: The start is a 10 minute walk. NOTE There is no car parking at the Start or Finish, a free lift back to the car park is available from the finish.

Registration: From 7.30am at Weston Lane Community Centre (half a mile from the car park – take everything with you for free bag transfer to the finish)

Start: 8.30am

Event Closes: 8.30pm

Map Recommended: The route is on the OS Explorer Map 297, however a full description will be provided and the course will be taped.

Basic Route Details: Reservoir Dogs is a tour around 7 of the reservoirs that serve the Leeds area, starting with Lindley Wood Reservoir in North Yorkshire, the route then goes to Swinsty and Fewston Reservoir before heading over to John O’Gaunt, Beaver Dyke, Scargill Reservoirs before returning to West Yorkshire via Stainburn Forest and Almscliffe Crag to Eccup Reservoir before finishing in Pool-in-Wharfedale. For the shorter race you return straight back to Pool-in-Wharfedale before Eccup Reservoir. All finishers of both distances will receive a T-Shirt and medal. Those that complete the full distance will be listed before those doing the shorter distance.

CHECKPOINTS

Each checkpoint will have water, coke, jelly babies, peanuts, Jaffa cakes, marshmallows and flapjacks. CP5 will also have pork pies and cheese.

Checkpoint 1: Norwood 9km (5.5. miles): Open 9am to 10am
Checkpoint 2: Blubberhouses 18 km (11 miles): Open 9.45am to 11.15pm
Checkpoint 3: Stainburn 29km (18 miles): Open 10.45am to 1.15pm
Checkpoint 4: Weeton 38km (23 miles): Open 11.45am to 3.15pm

Then the 57km race has an extra checkpoint
Checkpoint 5: Eccup 50km (31 miles): Open 1.15pm to 4.15pm

Finish: Pool-in-Wharfedale Methodist Church, Main Street, Pool-in-Wharfedale, LS21 1LH – There is NO parking at the Finish (please ask friends and relatives to park sensibly in the village)

Every finisher receives a medal, A Reservoir Dogs Tech T-Shirt and Certificate as well as a hot meal at the finish. Event finishing positions are in order of distance completed then time taken.

A GPX file of the exact route is available on request. The file is provisional and will be confirmed as soon as entries close.

*Punk Panther Ultra marathons will be supporting St.Gemma’s Hospice in all of our race events for 2017.

St Gemma’s Hospice, in Leeds, is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in England. They provide the best possible care and quality of life for local people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

£1.00 from every race entry will be donated to this fantastic charity.
