The Urban Legend Ultra
PUNK PANTHER RACES
Started in 2017. They are a series of 6 Ultra Marathons, each race has trophies for First Male, Female and Veteran Male and Female over 50. Points given each race will count towards an annual trophy for men and women.
Punk Panther Races all start in Otley, West Yorkshire and finish in Pool-in-Wharfedale, West Yorkshire, with free return transport to the event car park. They are a minimum of 50K and are run over a variety of challenging courses in West and North Yorkshire visiting stunning scenery including Ilkley Moor, The Chevin and the many reservoirs and beauty spots the area has to offer.
THE URBAN LEGEND ULTRA
Distance: 50/57/66km (31/36/41 miles)
Climb: 1000/1200/1300 metres (3300/4000/4300ft)
Car Park: Station Top, Otley off East Chevin Road
Registration: From 7.30am at the Yorkshire Runner Shop, 38 Bondgate, Otley, LS21 1AD (5 mins walk from the car park) 01943 666750 – Get your last minute running equipment from Tim who organises the race numbers for us.
Start: 8.30am at Station Top, Otley
Event Closes: 8.30pm
Map Recommended: OS Explorer Maps 288, 289 & 297 : However a full route description will be provided and the 50 and 57km routes will be taped.
Basic Route Details: The Urban Legend Ultra is substantially offroad, but takes you right near to the heart of Leeds visiting many of the public greenspaces during the course. It is based on the North West Leeds Greenway. Starting in Otley climbing sharply over the Chevin via Suprise View to Guiseley, Yeadon, Rawdon, Horsforth, Hawksworth Wood, Kirkstall, Burley Park, Headingley, Hyde Park then along the Meanwood Valley Trail through Adel Woods to Eccup Reservoir, Golden Acre Park, Paul’s Pond, Cookridge, Bramhope back into Otley, before finishing in Pool-in-Wharfedale.
CHECKPOINTS
Each checkpoint will have water, coke, jelly babies, peanuts, Jaffa Cakes, marshmallows and flapjacks. CP5 & CP6 will also have pork pies and cheese.
Checkpoint 1: New Scarborough 8km (5 miles): Open 8.40am to 9am
Checkpoint 2: Knott Lane 18km (11 miles): Open 9.15am to 10.15am
Checkpoint 3: Beckett Park 30km (18 miles): Open 10.15am to 12 noon
Checkpoint 4: Meanwood Gate 41km (25 miles) or 32km (20 miles) on 50km course: Open 12.30pm to 3pm
Checkpoint 5: Eccup 46km (29 miles) or 38km (23 miles) on 50km course: Open 1.15pm to 4pm
Checkpoint 6: Staircase Lane 55km (34 miles) or 47km (29 miles) on 50km course: Open 2.15pm to 5.30pm
Finish: Pool-in-Wharfedale Methodist Church, Main Street, Pool-in-Wharfedale, LS21 1LH – There is NO parking at the finish (please ask friends and family to park sensibly in the village)

Every finisher receives a medal, An Urban Legend Tech T-Shirt and certificate as well as a hot meal at the finish. Event finishing positions are in order of distance completed then time taken.
A GPX file of the route is available upon request. The files is provisional and will be confirmed as soon as entries close
*Punk Panther Ultra marathons will be supporting St.Gemma’s Hospice in all of our race events for 2017.
St Gemma’s Hospice, in Leeds, is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in England. They provide the best possible care and quality of life for local people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
£1.00 from every race entry will be donated to this fantastic charity.
