3 Towers Ultra

This challenging 43 (ish) mile route takes in some of the most stunning views the West Pennine Moors has to offer as well as taking in all 3 iconic towers, Rivington, Jubilee and Peel Towers, the event boasts an elevation of over 7500 ft!

Start / Finish line: Ranken Arms Pub, Hoddlesdon, BB3 3LY

*This route is not marked. Each runner will be provided a marked map of route (GPX File)

The route will quickly climb up to onto the moors, heading towards the first of the 3 towers, the Jubilee Tower before heading across to White Coppice via Cartridge Hill and Great Hill.

You will then navigate your way towards the second tower passing CP 2 at the base of the climb up to Rivington Tower.

From there, you will navigate your way across Turton Heights and onwards in to CP3 at Hawkshaw. The final phase of the event tackles the challenging Holcombe Moor and the final climb up towards Peel Tower before making your way across to CP 4 at Cronkshaw Fold Farm. From here you will skirt Bull Hill and head back towards Darwen, finishing at the Ranken Arms Pub for a cheeky pint! ;)

The terrain is hilly and undulating over the course, and in parts hits public roads.. there will be 5 check points throughout the route with cut off times to reach CP3.

The one (of many) positive comments last year was how awesome each CP was... We certainly load them with a variety of food and drink to help keep you fueled throughout the run... Such as:

  • Bananas
  • Oranges
  • Soreen
  • Flapjacks
  • Trail mix/peanuts
  • Sweets/Jelly babies
  • Pies
  • Sausage Rolls
  • Falafels
  • Coke
  • Water
  • Lucozade

CP 1, 2 & 3 are easily accessible by car also should you wish to have a friend or family member meet you for support or bag drop support.

When you successfully cross the finish line, you will receive a very bespoke and unique 3 towers medal for your efforts plus hot food provided by the Ranken Arms Pub!

This event has a 13 hour cut off and details of each CP cut off will be emailed to registered runners.

Pre req: It is strongly advised you have completed a trail marathon & have experience in trail running prior to entering this event.
