Parking

Parking is available at Glencoe Mountain Resort and there is room for everyone if we are sensible. Please park as you are instructed by race marshals.

Littering

We take this very seriously – anyone found be littering will be removed from the event and barred from future events.

Mechanics

Thanks to Brexit and worldwide lockdowns many bike shops and mechanics are struggling to source spares. Please don’t leave servicing your bike to the week before the event – you may get a nasty surprise. We have experienced mechanics on the team but they can’t work miracles…

Covid Safety Measures

·        Please wear a facemask whilst dropping your bag and when gathering at the start. Facemasks can be removed when riding however please ride with a face mask in your pocket – just in case!

·        Please take a lateral flow test before you travel and do not attend if you get a positive result – isolate and take a PCR test.

·        If come the week of the event you are living in a level 3 or above area please do not attend the event.

·        If you have any symptoms on the morning of the event please do not attend.

·        Please maintain social distancing at all times

·        Please maintain social distancing at feed stations, move aside as soon as you can to allow others access.

·        Hand sanitiser will be available at feed stations – please use it before accessing the feed station.

·        We will have all the usual mechanics and broom wagons and this year they will all carry hand sanitiser and spare masks HOWEVER the best way to avoid spreading covid would be if we can avoid anyone getting picked up in the first place… please make sure your bike is roadworthy, recently serviced and you are carrying essential spares – tubes, gas/pump, tyre levers, chain tool and spare link (and a spare battery if you have lazy gears!) at the very least.

Please note:

A full refund/deferral will be given up to 2 weeks prior to the event. 7 – 14 days prior to the event refunds/deferrals will only be given to those who are unable to travel due to being put into restrictions/needing to isolate that week. No refunds/deferals will be given within 7 days of the event.

Tour of the Highlands 2021 - IMPORTANT CHANGE OF DATES!!

sent by KOM Events Ltd on 01/03/2021 at 09:54
Following the First Minister's announcement on Tuesday we have decided to reschedule the Tour of the Highlands for later in the year. On the face of it May was looking promising, especially if your middle name is Boris. However, as the intention is to move back into a tiered system no earlier than the end of April, the chances of one or more of our council areas being in level 3 restrictions or above is still pretty high (we guess...). The Tour of the Highlands takes in not 2 or 3 but 7 regions and we need them all to be in level 2 or lower to be allowed to run the event...

So with that in mind, and the fact that there are no more bank holiday weekends in Scotland after May, we have chosen the Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th September (please note the start day is a Friday not a Saturday!!!).

We are really sorry for the obvious inconvenience of another change of date and hope you understand we are really doing our best to make this happen despite the virus's best efforts to spoil our plans.  If the new date does not suit please do just let me know if you would like to defer until 2022 or take a refund.

On the plus side there'll be more warm sunny days to train in so you will all be faster than ever :)

2021 DATES!!!!

sent by KOM Events Ltd on 18/12/2020 at 15:36

2021 DATES!!!!

We are DELIGHTED to confirm dates for the following events:

Tour of the Highlands (SOLD OUT!!!) will go ahead as usual over the May bank holiday, 29th – 31st May 2020. Due to restrictions on numbers placed on us by Sport Scotland we are currently unable to take any more entries for this event. We hope very much this may change nearer the time but for now we have to work within the existing restrictions.

3 Pistes Sportive will this year be held on SATURDAY 29th May. Please note this is a slight change from the usual Sunday as we cannot have our 3 Pistes riders on the same leg as the Tour of the Highlands riders. Limited additional entries available HERE. Please note coach transfers are temporarily unavailable to book whilst we wait for our suppliers to confirm costs.

The King of the Mountains Weekend will be held on Friday 24th – Sunday 26th September. We have decided to move this event to a weekend later in the season in the hope that there is a better likelihood of having fewer restrictions in place. If the new date is not suitable for anyone with a rollover entry please contact me for a transfer, deferral, or refund. We have limited availability for further entries so if you fancy joining us for a hill-climb or sportive or two snap them up HERE

Rockman Inch by Inch will be held on Sunday 29th August. We may have a few limited spaces available for this one. Watch this space…!

We are in the process of updating our protocols and risk assessments to make all our events ‘Covid-secure’. More details to follow.  This will mean some aspects will feel a little different this year. For example we are limited to a maximum of 200 entrants and staff at each event meaning we CANNOT take any last minute or on-the-day entries, so if you know anyone who is thinking of just turning up and hoping for a slot please let them know and encourage them to enter online before all our events sell out… We would also like to assure everybody that should we need to cancel or postpone any event due to Covid we will offer you the choice to defer, transfer or refund. If any participant misses an event due to testing positive, being required to isolate or prevented from attending due to Government travel restrictions we will also offer deferral, transfer or refund. We reserve the right to require proof of isolation requirement.

Thankyou everybody for your patience and understanding throughout this very difficult year. Whilst 2021 will still be a long way from normal, the light is at the end of the tunnel. We are really looking forward to seeing you all out on the roads, trails and lochs again!

Watch this space for LochloMan, St Andrews and ArranMan Triathlons…

Covid19 and KOM Events

sent by KOM Events Ltd on 30/04/2020 at 19:46
Dear athletes,

After careful deliberation we have taken the decision NOT to attempt to run any of our events at all this year.

We gave ourselves until the end of April to watch how things progressed nationally and internationally before announcing rescheduled dates for King Of The Mountains, Tour of the Highlands and SwimRun... but let’s be brutal… even if restrictions are lifted by Autumn none of us will have done sufficient training to make any rescheduled endurance events enjoyable later this year.

Hopefully restrictions will be eased over the next few months but as we are unlikely to return to anywhere near normal anytime soon I feel it would be foolish to attempt to organise mass participation events until we have a much clearer idea what life will be like. Whilst we would love to help the struggling tourism industry we do not want to put anyone at unnecessary risk, nor do we want to put a strain on our infrastructure.

So what does that mean for your 2020 entries?

We would love to be able to give all of you a full refund, but as a small operation with many ongoing annual expenses incurred for our events we are not in the financial situation to do that. What we could offer you as a partial refund, whilst still being able to continue organising unique and bespoke events for you in future years, is insulting. So we are asking that you accept the opportunity to defer your entries to any of our events in either 2021 or 2022. We want to make our return in 2021 to be as big as possible, so we will also be offering each of you a 50% Bring A Pair of Pals discount for 2021 events when they go live. The discount code will be unique to you and be suitable for two entrants.

Once we have sorted out all the dates for 2021 we will automatically defer all entries. It will take time to confirm new dates (hopefully exactly same weekends as this year) because staff at the various event venues are currently furloughed.

If you need to reply to this email please be aware that it will probably take several weeks to be answered as neither of us have any childcare right now.

Stay safe, but enjoy your solo rides.
