Marathon Du Malton

Inspired by the Marathon Du Medoc in France's wine region, this new gourmet food and wineathlon goes through an area of Yorkshire famous for its award-winning local produce and beautiful countryside.

Starting and finishing in Malton's pretty Market Place, there will be various food and drink stops around the beautiful 10k course. Runners are encouraged to take their time, pace themselves and enjoy the party atmosphere, fancy dress and gourmet food stops.

For family members not taking part in the 10k the Street Food Sunday event will be taking place in Malton at the same time with the start/finish line right alongside the pop-up picnic area.

Early Bird entries are now open for the 2019 Marathon Du Malton!

sent by Mark Brayshaw on 31/10/2018 at 09:48
As a previous entrant in the Marathon Du Malton we would like you to be among the first to know that entries are now being accepted for the 2019 event.

Plans are already underway to make the 2019 event bigger and better than this year! It will take place on Sunday 25th August and, as is befitting a food and drink themed event, it will start at lunchtime again!

Lots of you came in food themed fancy dress last year and we would like encourage you to join in the food theme again this year - there will be prizes for the best costumes.

The 2018 event sold out in just 8 weeks, so to avoid disappointment we encourage you to book your entry as soon as possible - a ticket to 'The UK's Tastiest 10K' would be a fantastic Christmas present - so why not bring a friend next time.

Talking of Christmas, our next big event is the 'Malton Christmas Food & Gift Market' taking place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December. We are expecting 100 stalls so, added to all the fabulous shops in Malton, you should be able to find something for everyone in one stop. The market runs from 9am to 3pm each day, it is free entry and there's 2 hours free parking in town too.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Why not come back to Malton to rediscover the producers who provided the food and drink stops for the Marathon Du Malton? Here they are in the order you came across them on the course:

  • Macarons were supplied by Florian Poirot who can be found in Talbot Yard Food Court
  • The Yorkshire Puddings and roast beef were courtesy of Malton Cookery School, they are based on Saville Street and run a variety of courses on cooking, baking, etc. The beef was supplied by Food 2 Remember, based in Talbot Yard Food Court
  • Horsetown Beers provided the ale on the Gallops. They are getting ready to open a microbrewery at Navigation Wharf, off Yorkersgate, Malton
  • The Talbot supplied the bunny burgers. They are on Yorkersgate, Malton
  • McMillans of Malton served Hedgerow Gin supplied by Sloemotion. McMillans are located in Market Street, Malton. Sloemotion are at Barton on the Hill
  • The lager at the finish line was provided by Brass Castle Brewery. They are based on Yorkersgate, Malton.
If you need any further information about Malton please see

Our next big event is the Harvest Food Festival on Saturday 8th September. Featuring 80+ food producer stalls, free chef demos, pop up picnic area, family entertainment and live music

Hope to see you soon!

Marathon Du Malton - Race Results 2018

sent by Mark Brayshaw on 28/08/2018 at 16:18
Thank you to all our wonderful racers for making the very first Marathon Du Malton such a colourful and joyous event.

I have attached the results in three ways - by surnames (A-Z), finish times and bib numbers. They are also available as an excel download direct from the Visit Malton website

We will be sharing photos from the event on our social media channels, so make sure you check out the event page on Facebook at and feel free to add your photos there too.

Despite the inclement weather the feed back we have received so far has been fantastic. However we are sure there will be some things that could be improved upon and who better to tell us what those things are than you!

Good or bad we want to hear what you felt about things like:
  • The cost (was the race good value for money)
  • The memento (did you like receiving a glass as a food/drink themed gift rather than a run of the mill race medal)
  • The pre-race joining instructions (did the document help you find race HQ, parking, toilets, etc)
  • Street Food Sunday
  • Children's activities (sadly affected and reduced because of the weather)
  • The course
  • Course markings
  • Marshals
  • Food/Drink stops (variety, would you like to see more stops on the course, etc)
  • Anything else (let us know if there was anything else you particularly liked about the event, or anything you think we should improve next time)
We hope to see you all again in 2019!

Kind regards

Hi Rose. Yes you will receive your race number at registration on the day. This and lots of other useful information should have arrived in your inbox this morning (check spam if it is not there). The joining instructions are also available on the notifications section of Race Space.
